The Emergency Food and Shelter Program is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This program “supplements and expand ongoing efforts to provide shelter, food, and supportive services” for the nation’s hungry, homeless, and people in economic crisis.
A local board of directors meets quarterly to assess community needs and allocate these dollars to appropriate organizations.
Meetings are called when necessary and held in the Department of Social Services.
