The Greensville County Housing Department is instrumental in the planning and administration of county housing program activities. The Housing Office is located in the Greensville County Government Building.

The County’s housing efforts are currently concentrated in the Washington Park Neighborhood. The purpose of the housing activity is to create safe, decent, and affordable housing for Greensville County residents.

The Board of Supervisors has supported this effort by applying for grant funds from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD).

Thus far, there have been four separate phases of the Washington Park Improvements.  The housing portions of these grants have created more than 38 homeownership opportunities and the rehabilitation of more than 20 other houses.

The Southern Virginia Development Corporation (SVDC), a local non-profit housing agency, is tasked with administering the housing activities. The SVDC membership consists of six members of the Community, the County Administrator, the County Building Official, and the Honorable Michael W. Ferguson, the Board of Supervisors Member that represents the Washington Park Project Area. The Housing Coordinator works closely with the SVDC to insure that all VDHCD policies and procedures are followed.

In addition to assisting the SVDC, the Housing Coordinator also prepares grant applications, conducts in-home interviews, coordinates first time home-buyer’s classes, assists with home maintenance training, and lends expertise/assistance to other local government departments. Additional information on housing and/or other programs is readily available by contacting the Housing Office. Please use the contact information provided above.
